UM AAUP-Alliance Letter to Provost Duerk Regarding "Spot Checks" of Faculty (August 2020)

We've received dozens of reports from across campus that "the University has been conducting spot-checks to ensure that faculty are in the correct room at the correct time, and that the course is being taught in the correct modality." The University of Miami AAUP-University Employee Alliance condemns these actions.

This statement supports and amplifies the "Right to Choose" petition signed by 595 of our University of Miami Faculty colleagues. It asserts our right to design our course content and mode of instruction as best meets the needs of our students.

UM AAUP-Alliance - Endorsed Memo on "Caregiving, Gender, and the Pandemic at the University" (July, 2020)

This is a memo about what could be done at UM to support caregivers. It was developed by Brenna Munro in consultation with colleagues at other institutions having similar institutional conversations, and also came out of a discussion run by the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program by Claire Oueslati-Porter. The memo has been approved by the GSS program’s steering committee, and has been endorsed by our AAUP-Alliance chapter
